Abstract

Many students who enroll in community colleges are unprepared for college-level work.  As a result, community colleges have implemented a variety of interventions that are designed to enable students to perform successfully in college-level courses.  This paper is a retrospective analysis of the methodologies applied by instructors of remedial or developmental education in community colleges in the United States in the 20th and 21st centuries to prepare students for college-level work.
